Adopt-a-Titan Scholarship

Amount: Up to $8,000 (annually renewable)

Established by: 
This scholarship was originally established by the Richard Bergstrom on behalf of the Bergstrom Family to provide financial assistance, based on financial need, to incoming CSUF undergraduate students. Additional donors have joined the Bergstrom family to provide funding for new scholarships. This scholarship is also awarded on behalf of the Nguyen family. The purpose of the scholarship is to support achievement among students with financial need. The scholarships are intended to minimize students’ debt burden.
 

Eligibility:
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • New, first-time or transfer undergraduate student at CSU Fullerton.
  • Full-time enrollment (minimum of 12 units per semester).
  • Demonstrated financial need as determined by the 2025–26 FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
  • Minimum high school GPA of 3.0 for first-time students or minimum transfer GPA of 2.5 for transfer students.
     


Application Instructions:

2. In the "Supplemental Materials - Letters of Recommendation" section of the application, enter the contact information for at least two recommenders:
  • One letter must be from a high school teacher, school counselor, or community college faculty member.
  • The second letter must be from either:
    • A current/recent employer or supervisor at a campus or community service organization in which you have been actively involved, or
    • Another teacher, school counselor, or faculty member.

African American Studies Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the Department of African American Studies at California State University, Fullerton, to recognize students who excel in service to the Department, the University, and the broader community, and who are committed to advancing social justice.

Open to:
Open to CSUF students with a declared major in Ethnic Studies with a concentration in African American Studies who have demonstrated outstanding service and a commitment to social justice.

Eligibility:
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Student with a declared major in Ethnic Studies with a concentration in African American Studies.

  • Demonstrate significant contributions to the Department, the University, and/or the broader community through leadership and service aligned with social justice.

  • Examples of service may include, but are not limited to:

    • Participation in activities that support and promote African American communities and voices.

    • Leadership roles within the African American Studies Department or in student organizations focused on social justice.

    • Volunteer or community-based work advancing equity and justice.

  • Exhibit a commitment to academic success and community uplift.

Anne Ludmila Kruzic Teaching Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the Anne Ludmila Kruzic Trust to support aspiring educators who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, and a commitment to incorporating music into their teaching practice.

Open to:
CSU Fullerton students enrolled in the Multiple Subject Credential Program (including the combined program) or the Single Subject Credential Program.

Eligibility:
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Good academic standing

  • Enrollment in the Multiple Subject (combined program included) or Single Subject Credential Program

  • Preference given to students who intend to teach music or incorporate music in their teaching (as demonstrated through music-related coursework or experience as a musician)

  • Demonstrated community involvement

Please explain how your background—including coursework, musical experience, and civic engagement—has prepared you to become an educator.

Bernhard J. and Vivian W. Strand Scholarship

This scholarship was named for Bernhard and Vivian Strand, who made life-long commitments to the public education system as both teachers and principals. Their legacy continues through this scholarship supporting the next generation of educators.

Open to:
CSU Fullerton students who have been admitted to the Multiple Subject Credential Program, including those enrolled in the combined Multiple Subject/Master’s program.

Eligibility Criteria:

This scholarship was established through the estate of Beulah and Cecil Ballentine, lifelong educators dedicated to supporting the next generation of teachers and educational leaders.

Eligibility:
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Newly admitted or continuing students enrolled in a credential or graduate degree program within the College of Education.

  • Demonstrated examples of leadership.

  • Evidence of professional aptitude for a career in education.

In the "Supplemental Materials – Attachments" section of the scholarship application, upload a two-page essay describing the four most important characteristics of an outstanding educator and how you would personify those characteristics. Cecil B. Thompson Scholarship

Established by: 
This scholarship was established by Michael Dannan to recognize and honor adult reentry students returning to college after an extended absence.  This scholarship is a tribute to Cecil B. Thompson, a former CSUF Economics faculty member who inspired Michael Dannan during his time at CSUF.

Open to: 
CSUF undergraduate students returning to their studies after an absence of five or more years, who are in financial need.

Eligibility:
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • One academic year remaining in your program.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of GPA of 2.7 or above.
  • Adult re-entry student with an absence from school of at least 5 years.
  • Must be enrolled for Spring 2026.


Criteria:
Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Financial need.
  • Adult re-entry status
  • Essay answers in the Spring 2026 CSUF Scholarship Application

Established by: This scholarship is funded by Dr. Julie M. T. Chan to support students pursuing a career in literacy and reading.

Open to: Students registered in the CSUF College of Education Department of Literacy and Reading Education Program, pursuing a Reading and Literacy Leadership Specialist Credential and/or Master’s degree. Priority is given to students participating in-person at the Hazel Miller Croy Reading Center as part of their coursework.

Eligibility:
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated professional aptitude for a career in literacy and reading

This scholarship was established through the generous gifts of alumni and friends, commemorating the designation of the School of Education as the CSUF College of Education in July 2004. All donor names are recognized on the “Founders Wall” in the Dean’s office complex, College Park suite 500.

Open to:
New and continuing College of Education students who are pursuing a teaching credential, certificate, master’s degree, or Ed.D. degree.

Eligibility:
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Enrollment as a credential or graduate student.

  • Good academic standing.

  • Demonstrated professional aptitude for a career in education.

Council for Exceptional Children Scholarship

Established by: This scholarship is funded through the generosity of the Orange County Chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). The scholarship supports aspiring special education teachers who demonstrate leadership and a strong commitment to the field. In recognition of this honor, recipients will be asked to attend a virtual donor recognition meeting via Zoom at the request of the scholarship sponsor.

Open To:
New or continuing students pursuing a Special Education Credential at California State University, Fullerton who are current members of the Council for Exceptional Children.

Eligibility:

  • Minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA

  • Demonstrated desire to become a special education teacher

  • Evidence of leadership

  • Current membership in the Council for Exceptional Children

It aims to support students by providing financial assistance, with first preference given to those who are members or whose immediate family members are active or retired members of a labor union affiliated with the donor.

Crankstart Scholarship

The Crankstart Scholarship was created to support California community college transfer students who are continuing their education at California State University, Fullerton. This scholarship helps offset the cost of tuition and fees for students who demonstrate financial need.

Open to: 
This scholarship is open to students who transferred from a California community college within the last four years and are currently enrolled as juniors or seniors at CSU Fullerton.
 

Eligibility: 
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Enrollment as a junior or senior undergraduate student at CSU Fullerton.
  • Transferred from a California community college within the last four years.
  • Demonstrated financial need, specifically unmet tuition and/or fees, as determined by the 2025–26 FAFSA or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
  • Must not receive full coverage of tuition and fees from other aid sources (e.g., Cal Grant, State University Grant, fee waivers). Award amounts will be based on verified unmet tuition and/or fees.

Students pursuing a Multiple Subject Credential in the College of Education. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition and other course-related fees.

Open to:
This scholarship supports students from underrepresented backgrounds pursuing a teaching credential program within the College of Education (or admitted to the College of Education).

Criteria:

  • Enrollment in a credential program (Special Education, Elementary, or Secondary Education) or contingent upon admission and attendance

  • Identification as an underrepresented student in the field of teaching

  • Good academic standing

  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Just, Equitable, and Inclusive Education (J.E.I.E.)

This scholarship is funded by SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union in honor of Dr. Claire C. Cavallaro, former Dean of the College of Education at Cal State Fullerton. It is awarded annually to support students who exemplify a strong commitment to just, equitable, and inclusive education.

Open to:
Students in good standing who are enrolled in a College of Education credential or graduate program.

Criteria:

  • Scholastic achievement

  • Financial need

  • Character

  • Demonstrated volunteer and/or work experience aligned with a commitment to just, equitable, and inclusive education

  • Preference will be given to:
    • First-generation college students
    • Students from traditionally underserved communities

Dr. Greta Nagel Scholarship

Amount: $600 (two scholarships) (Contingent upon funding)

Established by: Dr. Greta Nagel. The proceeds are used to support the College of Education in collaboration with the Department of Reading. The funds provide two (2) $600 scholarships to be used expressly for conference registration and/or travel expenses for students attending a professional literacy conference.

Open To: Graduate students within the College of Education who are:

  1. Pursuing a master’s degree in Literacy and Reading Education;

  2. Pursuing a Literacy and Reading Leadership Specialist Credential; or

  3. Completing their practicum in the Hazel Miller Croy Reading Center.

Eligibility: Must meet one of the criteria listed above.

Dr. John C. Reinard Forensics Scholarship

This scholarship is named for Dr. John C. Reinard in honor of his passion and commitment to the Cal State Fullerton Forensics program. Dr. Reinard was an alumnus of the speech and debate team, faculty member, and former Chair of the Department of Human Communication Studies. The scholarship recognizes a promising and committed student participating in the Forensics Program.

Open to:
This scholarship is open to returning undergraduate or graduate students who have been actively involved in forensics.
 

Eligibility:
Open to CSUF students who meet the following criteria:

  • Active participation in Forensics at CSUF.
  • Demonstrates financial need.
  • In the CSUF Forensics Program Service.
 


Application Instructions:

  • A 1–2-page (double spaced) essay explaining why you are a strong candidate for a forensics scholarship. Begin by summarizing your academic background and speech and debate experience, including any awards or honors received. Describe your dedication to the team and any service activities or leadership roles you have undertaken. Outline your goals and ambitions for the upcoming academic year in speech or debate.

Dr. Olivia Veloz Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by Dr. Olivia Veloz to support students affiliated with the Center for Research on Educational Access and Leadership (C-REAL) who are enrolled in the Education Leadership doctoral program with a community college specialization.

Open to:
Students enrolled in the Education Leadership doctoral program with a community college specialization within the College of Education.

Eligibility:

  • Enrollment in the Education Leadership doctoral program with a community college specialization

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Current or past affiliate of C-REAL (student research assistant, volunteer, or intern)

  • From an underrepresented population experiencing or who has experienced financial hardship

  • Demonstrated commitment to serving underserved students or communities

  • Continuous progress toward degree completion within program timeframe

Note: Eligibility will be verified by the Director of C-REAL prior to the College of Education scholarship committee’s selection process.

Criteria:
Applicants will be evaluated by the History Alumni Association based on:

  • Intrinsic interest in History as demonstrated through professional activities such as projects, papers, and participation in historical activities.
  • Preference will be given to students who intend to use History in a career or as preparation for a career.
 
 

Application Instructions:
1. Log into your CSUF portal and click on the “Scholarships” app on the left-hand side. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the "Spring 2026 CSUF Scholarship Application".
2. In the "Career Objectives" Section of the Application, select the following option if it applies to you:

  • "I intend to use History in a career or in preparation for a career."

3. In the "Supplemental Materials – Attachments" section:

  • Upload a 250-word statement addressing the following:
    • Detail your History-related activities, including projects, papers, and participation in historical activities.
    • Discuss whether you intend to use History in a career or in preparation for a career.

4) in the "Supplemental Materials – Letters of Recommendation" section:

  • Enter the contact information for at least two CSUF History professors as recommenders.
Note: If applying for multiple History scholarships, only two letters of recommendation are required in total.
